Xmas Trampoline Team Shoot
// December 16th, 2008 // Photography
Well this was a bit of fun yesterday, the university trampoline team were doing a fancy dress christmas ‘jump’. They asked Adrian (University Photographer) to pop down and take a few shots, so I went down with him as it was a chance to test out my new flash diffuser. Theres a little controversy around at the moment with this particular diffuser. Its the Whaletail Diffuser, that was developed by Gary Fong in USA. However it is for sale around the world at a much cheaper price, made by another company. Below is the GF version.

I have to say they are pretty much exactly the same, and I’m just getting to grips with using it. Once you start to get a hang of the flaps, and what position to have them in for each situation, it does start making sense. Particularly in a sports hall with a very high ceiling. I had the rear flap closed, and the top one just tilted slightly forwards to push more light at the subject.

It was very difficult to get the lighting right, since the hall lighting was so yellow, but once I’d excepted that, it was ok. I think the black and white versions work better. They are all processed in Lightroom by the way.
